on June 15, 2021, the Italian Paleoarte Prize was inaugurated, conceived and promoted by the Valdarnese del Poggio Academy, by the Paleontological Museum of Montevarchi in collaboration with the illustrator Sante Mazzei. Among the objectives pursued by the organization of the Italian Paleoarte Prize is the desire to spread the knowledge of Paleoarte (the representation of prehistoric life through various artistic techniques) and consequently offer a showcase to professional and aspiring artists who wish to promote their creations related to paleontology..
In recent years there has been a significant increase in artists interested in paleoart and a consequent production of works aimed at interpreting fossils, generally attached to scientific publications or exhibited in museums.
The Valdarnese del Poggio Academy and the Paleontological Museum of Montevarchi are therefore promoters of a unique initiative of its kind, aimed above all at rewarding the work of many new artists ever closer to the world of illustration and paleontological sculpture, guaranteeing for another a cash prize for the three most deserving artists.
The competition will end on Wednesday 15 September 2021.
The works sent will then compose an artistic exhibition that will be inaugurated to the public at the fourth edition of the Paleo-Fest, the original Festival of Prehistory of Montevarchi to be held on 2 and 3 October 2021. The works will remain on display at the Museum of Montevarchi for a period of one month, after which they will move for a whole series of events selected by the Valdarnese del Poggio Academy and by the partners of the Italian Paleoarte Award.
The Italian Paleoart Prize is sponsored by the Italian Paleontological and Paleoartistic Association, a company that has been involved for more than ten years in the organization and promotion of events related to paleontology and paleoart on the Italian territory.
